2 JULY 2016
Are you looking for a contract IT job this month? Because Comic-Con needs IT support from 11 July - 25 July. This is a full-time job (albeit temporary) with likely some overtime.
At first you'll work at CCI headquarters "supporting the internal end users with hardware, software, networking issues Tier 2 level. Chat, email, remote and deskside support." Then Comic-Con starts and you'll be working a specific area on the floor where you'll help vendors with their issues - printers, laptops, networking, etc.
For all of this, you will be paid the unprincely sum of... $17 an hour. That seems kind of low to me so let's hope you get a comp badge and some free time to prowl around the Con.
Submit your resume; SDCC fans "are most certainly welcome."

Do you want to work for CCI?
1 OCTOBER 2015
Admit it, you know you do. You want to infiltrate their shadowy organization and learn all their secrets and slowly, stealthily, hijack their infrastructure until the SDCC badge sales favor you and all your friends.
You probably won't be able to pull off any of that as a Senior Accountant, but that's what they want to hire right now - a FT employee who can "tackle the ever-increasing complexities and special financial reporting requirements of our non-profit organization." That's just today, though. They've created a whole new Jobs page just like a real company, albeit without a stock photo of two people laughing and drinking coffee over an office desk. They're even on Career Builder. Keep checking back!
I'd be remiss if I didn't note that October started today, and that's only 1 month away from the (probable) month of SDCC Pre-registration. (Official word: "Attendee Preregistration will launch sometime after October 31, 2015." So November is a safe guess.) That makes this next month kind of like Schrodinger's Badge - maybe you're going to Comic-Con 2016, maybe not, but you won't have to face the reality of a failure for a few more weeks, until the 1st guillotine of a badge sale falls on your neck. Feel confident about your imminent Preview Night badge while you can.

100-200 San Diego Comic-Con workers needed
4 MAY 2015
Would you like to get a paying job at San Diego Comic-Con? Be right there in the magic and hustle and earn money at the same time? Because an agency called On Tour 24/7 is looking for 100-200 workers.
"What kind of workers?" you might be asking. The answer is "event staff and promotional models/brand ambassadors." In other words, go ahead and apply and see what happens. You'll need to create a talent profile and include photos - but that doesn't mean you need to be drop-dead gorgeous, so don't let that rattle you. You'll also need to list your "previous Comic Con experience and the city it was activated in." How much do I love that phrasing? Let me count the ways.
Go ahead and be your most audacious self and apply. But if you get picked, you have to tell me your juicy behind-the-scenes stories.

ComiXology wants to hire you at ECCC
24 MARCH 2015
Yes, really. Behold this glorious press release title: "ComiXology Comes to Emerald City Comicon with Panels, Giveaways and a Hiring Party with Free Drinks!" That's a release written by someone who understands what attendees want.
As you remember, Amazon bought ComiXology a while back, causing curiosity and consternation in equal measures. (Kind of like how ReedPOP bought ECCC, you could say.) And Amazon was born in Seattle, which makes ECCC a natural place to scout for "future ComiXologists."
The expanding company has nearly 30 open positions in New York and Seattle, so they're doing the natural thing and throwing a party at one of the best comic conventions in the world. Alas, it's open to the public, so you'll be competing with more than just your fellow attendees. But if you go, you get a free t-shirt, free drinks, and the chance to converse with comiXology CEO and co-founder David Steinberger, CTO Jeff DiBartolomeo and staff.
Details:
What: ComiXology Hire Me Party
Where: Ninkasi Beer Garden - 1st floor of convention center, under the escalators
When: Saturday, 28 March, 8-11 pm
ComiXology is also having a few panels at ECCC - "Comics: Where to Begin?" on Friday at 2:10 in Hall G and "The Future of Self-Publishing" in Hall E on Saturday at 2:50. There will also be a "Hire Me!" panel on Sunday in Hall D at 12:30 that's about breaking into the comic book industry. And they'll be passing out t-shirts, free comics and even Kindle Fire tablets to some attendees.
Is it weird to anyone else that Emerald City is just a few days away? I'm printing my boarding pass tomorrow and it still doesn't seem real.
