CCI dropped the expected bomb today: our hotel fate will be decided this Wednesday morning. It sounds like it will be much like last year, so to roughly recap:
- You'll click their link between 8 am - 9 am PST...
- ... And go into a waiting room.
- Where you'll be randomly ordered for session selection in a way that has nothing to do with what time you entered the waiting room.
- Once in, you can pick 12 hotels. Do not rush; you are not assigned by the time you submit your form, only by the time you gained access to it.
- Or you'll deviate from the norm and call the telephone number provided! Some people think this gives them an edge; trusting my hotel submission to the competence of a stranger gives me high anxiety, but maybe it works for you.
- You'll be notified Monday of your hotel room - if you got one. If you didn't, you'll know by Tuesday at the latest.
- You have 3 days to make your deposit.
It's all pretty simple, if excruciatingly hard on our nerves. Where it gets complicated: when people start trying to trade rooms. I'll go over that when the time comes.
For now, review the sample form and list of hotels and try not to stress! If you don't get lucky, you'll find something eventually - and all that really matters is that you have a clean place to sleep, shower, and store your stuff. Most of your time will be at the convention center.
