Hotel Day is here

24 MARCH 2015

It's here! Again, there's no reason to get stressed out over today. Last year everyone got into the system, with no major crashes, so let's hope the same holds true today. I'll post any developments but all in all, this should be over with quickly. A few final reminders...

You don't need to pay anything today, so put your credit card away.

The hotels are here.

The Travel Planners numbers are 1.877.552.6642 or 1.212.532.1660.

Don't freak out when other people start talking about getting their confirmation email and yours hasn't come yet. They're always staggered. I know waiting is nerve-wracking - at least in registration, you know how you did right then - but your 2 emails will come eventually. First the confirmation email, then the one giving you your hotel assignment.

For most of us, this will be our last online sale for SDCC 2015. No matter how we all do today, that alone is something to celebrate.

ETA: Well, that wasn't too bad. I had a brief delay getting in on all of my laptops but nothing terminal. How did everyone do?

  1. We had something weird. The choices were displayed in a wheel type box and you had to control click each one to highlight it. The site took the form submission but on discussing it with others their selection was different. Pick one then next etc. So I went back and sure enough form was different. Submitted it again just in case.

    1. A wheel?? That is bizarre.
I hope your first round went through.

    2. I had the same issue. I had to resubmit a second time and saw that it was corrected. My friend tried to redo it and by that time all the downtown hotels were unavailable. Hopefully our first round went through!

    3. How odd. I really hope the wheel picks counted. That's completely unfair otherwise.

  2. Check out Twitter and the SDCC FB page. Many people had outrageous load times. Many others had the hotel dropdown list load as a box, and were unable to select their hotels. Others had the form autosubmit before they had finished filling it out.

Your report of being able to submit easily is the only one I've heard like that. Almost everyone had problems.

    1. Wow, almost everyone I've talked to got in after brief delays.

The form autosubmitting thing is a pretty big glitch. They'll need to do something for those people but I can't imagine how they'll produce downtown hotel rooms for them.

  3. I didn't have any issues, registered for my six and it gave me the confirmation page. Took a little longer than I wanted because the list was a little disorienting but hey I got my request in about 2 and a half minutes and I'd be more than happy at any of the hotels I listed. Soooo, fingers crossed!

  4. I refreshed the page right before 9 am, got in about 30-40 seconds later, had no issues, and submitted at 9:02. My list was Omni, Residence Inn Gaslamp x 2 (with and without sofa), Marriot Gaslamp x2 (+/- concierge lounge access), Marriott Marquis. Fingers crossed, because we submitted at 9:04-9:07 last year, got nothing, and ended up paying an insane amount for the Residence Inn Gaslamp (loved the location and the free breakfast).

  5. Good picks. It sounds like you'll definitely land on your list.
