Registration Day Part II: Tuesday, 27 March

25 MARCH 2012

This sounds like an April Fool's joke, but CCI is selling more badges off on Tuesday, 27 March, at 8:00 am PST/11:00 am EST.

Why? Because of the fiasco that was the March 3 registration day. Because of the glitches and CCI's guilty conscience. (Yes, even though last year was even worse.) To assuage the anger of the thousands who did not get a badge, CCI is doing an early version of the usual refunded-badge sale. I don't understand how many badges could already be turned in, which makes me question if this will just be a second round of frustration for those of you without badges, so at the risk of sounding mean - don't get your hopes up.

Sorry to be so vague. I'm relying on word of mouth, as the email with details only went to people with Member IDs who didn't get a four-day or Saturday badge. (I imagine this will piss off plenty of people who only have a Saturday badge and want the same opportunity to try for a four-day badge.) Apparently there are more single day badges than four day badges, no surprises there.

There are no details available on the CCI site. The link is in the email you should have received if you qualify for the resale. Good luck.

  2. I can't say for sure. The Member IDs are supposed to prevent people from buying duplicate badges - but they let people who pre-registered last summer go through again on March 3 to try for better badges. So I would imagine the same principle would apply for the resale badges in June.

  3. I think the idea with 'locking out' people who had 4 day badges and Saturday badges was the assumption that these people already were going for the entire Con. Since Saturday badges were the first 'single day' badges to sell out, presumably anyone with a Saturday badge had the OPPORTUNITY to buy all 4 single days id they wanted to.

  4. I don't think the people that already have Saturday badges should be pissed about being excluded from this sale. They may have also missed the 4 day badges, but the Saturday tickets were the first to sell out. They could have just as easily gotten the other 3 single day badges. If they only bought a badge for Saturday, it's because they chose too.

  5. That's a good point, although they didn't necessarily have a chance for Preview Night badges. But I'm guessing not many of those were turned in anyhow.

  6. I went for it; the link delayed right at 8AM. Three minutes later I was locked out of the waiting room. Unfortunate!

Is it true that the official SDCC guys sell their badges on EBay as well come late June?

  7. CCI has sold off badges on Ebay in the past, usually around late June/early July. They do things differently every year so it's not certain they'll go the Ebay route this summer, but there will be a definite resale.
